Coach Vince Dooley
On Thursday, October 5th, at the Cobb Energy Center, SIOR Georgia Chapter hosted the Annual Leadership Breakfast, featuring none other than University of Georgia football legend, Coach Vince Dooley. His stories, while powerful, moving, comical, and inspiring, were born from the lessons learned along his remarkable life as a leader of men. Attendees were reminded of the discipline and basic principles that root many successful people, regardless of their area of work.
One of the winningest coaches in the history of college football and a member of the College Football Hall of Fame since 1994, Vince Dooley possesses one of the most recognized names among sports heroes. He led the University of Georgia Bulldogs, a team he coached for 25 years, to the 1980 national championship title and six SEC championships. Twice he was honored as NCAA National Coach of the Year. Not only has he known some of the greatest football heroes in American history, he has coached or played against many, including Bear Bryant, Steve Spurrier, Joe Namath, Archie Manning, and Kenny Stabler, and has coached one of the greatest players ever: 1982 Heisman Trophy winner and UGA star, Herschel Walker.
